Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has asked Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee to reconsider her decision to withdraw support from UPA. Addressing a press conference at State Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad yesterday, he urged the West Bengal Chief Minister to reflect and ponder over her decision. Mr Sharma, however, said that the government’s decision over allowing foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail cannot be reversed. He said that the decision to allow 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail was taken last year along with permitting 100 per cent FDI in single brand retail. He said that a decision on considered view to allow FDI in multi-brand retail was taken based on strong demands from the states.
