Anand Sharma: Govt's decision to allow FDI in retail not to be rolled back

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has categorically said that the government's decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector, will not be rolled back. Addressing a group of farmers at the Congress Party headquarters in New Delhi today, Mr Sharma said the decision was final as it is in the interest of the farmers and consumers.

He said FDI in the multi-brand retail trading will help farmers in getting good price for their produce besides creating ample job opportunities. He said the government has taken the decision only after holding comprehensive consultations with all the stakeholders including farmers, consumers and industry leaders.
