World Champion Viswanathan Anand has jumped to joint second spot in the fourth Bilbao Final Masters chess tournament. In the fourth round of the event at Sao Paulo, Brazil, yesterday, Anand outplayed Francisco Vallejo Pons of Spain. The Indian had suffered an unexpected loss against Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine in the third round of the tournament. Meanwhile, Ivanchuk took another giant leap forward by defeating Levon Aronian of Armenia. With three straight wins in the category-22 super tournament, the 42-year old Ivanchuk is now at the top of the table with 10 points. Ivanchuk also stretched his lead to a huge 5 points over nearest rivals Anand and Aronian. The other game of the day between world number one Magnus Carlsen of Norway and Hikaru Nakamura of United States ended in a draw. Nakamura was at fourth spot with four points, while Carlsen and Vallejo Pons shared the last spot on three points apiece.
