Former world champion Viswanathan Anand has jumped to sole second spot in the Norway Chess tournament. At Stavanger in Norway, the Indian ace used the hidden dynamics out of a decent opening to beat Jon Ludvig Hammer of the host nation in the eighth and penultimate round. Grandmaster Anish Giri of Holland threw the tournament open for Anand as he beat Veselin Topalov in a long drawn game. Bulgaria's Topalov, on six points, still enjoys a half-point lead over nearest rival Anand and it will be a showdown between the two in the final round. It may be recalled that Anand had beaten Topalov with Black in the famous 12th and final game of the 2010 world championships. American Hikaru Nakamura and Anish Giri share the third spot on five points each. With Three and a Half points, reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway holds the joint fifth place along with Fabiano Caruana of Italy and Vachier-Lagrave of France.
