Amul Milk overtakes Mother Dairy

Amul has added another feather in its cap by emerging as market leader in the prized Delhi market by overtaking Mother Dairy in branded packaged milk segment. Launched in 2005, Amul Milk has overtaken Mother Dairy-Delhi which was established in 1973, by creating an infrastructure to transport, process, pack and distribute 100% fresh milk in a short span of 5 years. Quoting sources, AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Amul Milk sales in Delhi milk market is poised to cross 20 lac liters per day this summer. Similarly, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation- GCMMF, which holds the Amul brand, is all set to achieve a growth of 20% this fiscal to touch Rs. 8000 crore sales turnover. Sources in Amul dairy claimed that the overwhelming customer response to Amul Milk has been because of the superior fresh milk taste provided by Amul as compared to recombined milk often made from skimmed milk powder and butter oil by most competing brands. It may be noted that Amul is selling milk at price, which is Rs. 2 per liter higher than Mother Dairy for Full Cream milk and Re 1 per liter more than Mother Dairy in Toned milk segment.
