AMRUT: Centre approves Action Plan to be implemented during 2015-16 in Andhra

Union government has approved an Action Plan to be implemented during 2015-16 in Andhra Pradesh under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that the action plan, estimated to cost 660 crore rupees, is aimed at achieving universal coverage for water supply and sewerage in 31 urban local bodies.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the new capital city under making, Amaravati is one among the 31 urban local bodies approved by the Centre in Andhra Pradesh. <br/><br/>Under the scheme the Centre would provide funds to these urban local bodies for improving quality of life by providing basic services of water supply, sewerage, urban transport to all households to be implemented by the State government. <br/><br/>A set of 11 reforms would also be implemented in four years including promoting e-governance, improving collection of various taxes, fee and user charges, constitution and preparation for GIS-based master plans, devolution of funds and functionaries to urban local bodies.
