In Punjab, four laning project of National Highway stretch of border road from Amritsar to Attari-Wahga border check post on Indo-Pak border is complete and now the road has been opened for public use. This project of strategic importance has been completed under the Central Government’s plan to provide world-class infrastructural facilities in and around the holy city of Amritsar. <br/><br/>The project was initiated by the National Highway Authority of India . The four-laning of the Amritsar-Jalandhar stretch of the highway is already functional.<br/><br/>This Rs 205 crore 88 lakh project commenced in June 2008 and this 36 kilometer road has been completed within the stipulated deadline of two years. The road has seven bridges, one underpass on the airport junction and 37 culverts at various points. District officials along with officials of the NHAI and that of the private construction company have inspected the road.<br/>
