Amritsar is all set to host 2-day Ministerial conference of the Heart of Asia Istanbul process beginning tomorrow. More than 40 foreign ministers and dignitaries of the Heart of Asia countries, supporting countries and International organisations will participate in the conference.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the conference on Sunday. Pakistan Prime Minister's foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz will attend the conference.<br/><br/>Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal is personally looking after the arrangements. Apart from attending the conference, all dignitaries are expected to visit Golden temple, Durgiana Mandir, Jalianwala Bagh and Wagha Border.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that The Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process was founded on 2nd of November, 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Heart of Asia provides a platform for sincere and results-oriented regional cooperation by placing Afghanistan at its center, in recognition of the fact that a secure and stable Afghanistan is vital to the prosperity of the Heart of Asia region.<br/><br/>This platform was established to address the shared challenges and interests of Afghanistan and its neighbours and regional partners. The Heart of Asia is comprised of 14 participating countries, 17 supporting countries, and 12 supporting regional and international organizations. Afghanistan is the permanent 'Chair' for the Heart of Asia Process.<br/><br/>Each year, a participating country accepts the Co-Chair position and hosts the yearly Ministerial Conference in their home country. India is hosting this conference for the first time. Last year it was organised in Pakistan.<br/><br/>During the course of the conference, various events would be held concentrating on the challenge of terrorism in the heart of Asia region, especially Afghanistan, countering extremism, exploring cultural and civilizational similarities, and Co-operation in educational sector.
