Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has dubbed the Congress as suffering from doublespeak on issues concerning national unity and security.<br/><br/>Addressing newspersons at Chennai Airport, he said the earlier Congress regimes applied sedition law against many in the past, but while in opposition, the party tries to preach about the evils of the law.<br/><br/>The raising of anti-India slogans in a recent event organised by the Amnesty International in Bengaluru amounts to sedition though the NGO tries to disassociate itself from it, said Mr Naidu.<br/><br/>He asked where were such NGOs when army jawans and many innocent civilians were killed in Kashmir.<br/><br/>He charged that Congress leaders tried to influence the police case on the issue of raising anti-India slogans in Bengaluru and said once a case is filed, political leaders are not supposed to try to exert any influence.<br/><br/>When asked about the Cauvery row between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the I&B Minister said rivers are unifying forces.<br/><br/>Be it Cauvery or Godavari, India is one, whether it is Tamil Nadu or Karnataka, the nation is one, and the common goal of the nation is to serve all to eliminate poverty and ensure a dignified life for each and everyone, said Mr Naidu.
