President Pranab Mukherjee today conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship and Akademi Awards for 2011 at a function at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
11 eminent personalities including Shivkumar Sharma, Amjad Ali Khan, Padma Subrahmanyam have been conferred with Akademi Fellowship and 36 artistes in the field of music, dance, theatre, traditional folk, tribal dance and puppetry have received Akademi Awards for their contribution in the different field of arts. Those conferred with the highest honour of Akademi Fellowship have received three lakh rupees besides an angavastram and tamrpatra. Under Akademi Awards one lakh
rupees, angavastram and tamrapatra were presented to 36 artistes. Alakhnandan and Sundari Krishnalal Shridharani were selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2011 for their overall contribution to the performing arts.
