BJP General Secretary and a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah is all set to become the new Party President. Party sources said that the BJP Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body, is expected to announce Mr. Shah's name after its meeting in New Delhi today. He will replace Rajnath Singh who is now the Home Minister.
Mr. Shah was the party strategist, instrumental in scripting BJP's massive victory in Uttar Pradesh, where it won 71 of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats. The party is set for major organizational changes following its victory in the Lok Sabha polls as many of its senior leaders have become part of the new government.
