Close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah is the new BJP President. Party President Rajnath Singh said in New Delhi that he submitted his resignation which has been accepted by the BJP Parliamentary Board.

Mr. Shah was the party strategist, instrumental in scripting BJP's massive victory in Uttar Pradesh, where it won 71 of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats.
