In Pakistan, an American national has been kidnapped by suspected Taliban militants in Lahore. About a dozen heavily armed millitants barged into his residence in the wee hours today and took him away after overpowering his guards. The guards were preparing for the pre-dawn meal in the Islamic holy month of Ramzan, when the kidnappers struck. Police spokesman Niyab Haider Naqvi said the US national – Warren Weinstein – was bundled into a vehicle and taken to an unknown location. Police official say, they suspect the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan behind the Kidnapping. US Embassy spokesman Alberto Rodriguez confirmed the kidnapping but declined to identify the victim. He said the American was working for a private company and the US Adminstration is working with Pakistani authorities on the issue.
