America committed to implement civil nuke deal with India

The United States on Tuesday said, it is fully committed to the implementation of India-US Civil Nuclear deal. The assurance came after the NSG recently revised its guidelines on supply of modern technology for Enrichment and Reprocessing, ENR, to the states, which are not signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Addressing a joint press conference in New Delhi after two-and-a-half hour talks with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna, the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said that issues, including nuclear liability and ratifying the convention on supplementary compensation by India before the year-end need to be addressed.Ms Clinton said, India and America are making great strides in expanding their ties on security and counter terrorism. After the second Indo-US Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday, she said that strengthening of military ties between the two countries including the sale of defence technologies will help the Indian-American militaries to work together in a constructive way and to strengthen maritime security. On trade ties, the US Secretary of State said, both the countries can take further steps to reduce barriers, open up markets and encourage business partnerships to create jobs and opportunities for millions of people.In his opening remarks, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that the two countries have agreed to resume negotiations on bilateral investment treaty and he has conveyed to Ms Clinton the concerns of Indian IT Companies in sending their professionals to United States for executing projects and conducting business. A joint statement issued after the talks says that thirty per cent increase was recorded in the bilateral trade last year. An Aviation Safety Agreement was also signed on Monday evening, which will also help to promote trade ties between the two countries. Mr. Krishna said, whole gamut of relationship came up for discussions, which include Healthcare, Education, Environment, Clean Energy and Agriculture.He said that the United States extended full support for India’s full membership of four export control regimes and discussions were also held on reforming the UN Security Council with India as its permanent member.Mr. Krishna said that United States also assured to seek an early and satisfactory solution to the students affected by the closure of Trivally University.The two countries plan to hold a higher education summit in Washington on 13th of October this year to expand higher education dialogue. AIR correspondent reports, cooperation in space research, Science and Technology, Global stability and prosperity also figured prominently in the discussions. The Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram and the HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal also joined the talks during the luncheon meeting hosted in the honour of visiting dignitary in New Delhi. The next dialogue will be held in Washington DC in 2012.
