Ambubashi Mela begins in Kamakhya temple in Assam

In Assam, the four-day annual Ambubashi Mela began at the famous Shaktipeeth- Kamakhya Dham in Guwahati this morning. The door of the temple has been closed for the visitors for next three days from this morning in view of the Ambubashi Mela. Lakhs of devotees from home and abroad, including France, England and Germany have congregated in the temple complex atop the Neelachal Hill to have a glimpse of the Shakti Devi-Maa Kamakhya as the door of the temple opens on Sunday. AIR Correspondent reports that local District authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Ambubashi festival. Security have been intensified with around hundred close circuit cameras installed in all the corridors of the temple to monitor the movement of visitors and check activities of anti-social elements. The Kamrup Metro district authorities have set up a temporary hospital with all expert treatment facilities in the temple complex.
