Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Ambika Soni flagged off a direct DMU train from Hoshiarpur to Amritsar, from Hoshiarpur Railway Station, on Monday afternoon. She was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP, Ms. Santosh Choudhary and Rajya Sabha MP, Avinash Rai Khanna along with senior Railway officials. The Minister said that with the launching of this train a long pending demand of local people has been fulfilled. She asked the railway officials to reschedule the Ferozepur train service and create a historical railway station at Hoshiarpur. She expressed hope that some more rail projects for Punjab including Hoshiarpur are expected to be announced by the Railway Minister in the new Rail Budget. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Soni said that despite economic crisis all over the world, India has sustained and this is the reason why the developed nations are looking up for investment in India. She called upon the youth to use their energy constructive work so that the Nation could move forward towards overall development with more strength The train would depart at 5.20 am every morning from Hoshiarpur to arrive at Amritsar at 8.35 am and will come back from Amrtisar at 1130 in the morning to reach at Hoshiarpur 2.30 pm. In between the two main points, the service will connect 16 stations.
