In Jammu & Kashmir, the annual Amarnath yatra scheduled to commence from 28th June will commence only from Baltal route.

The Shri Amaranth Shrine Board has decided to defer the yatra commencement from the Pahalgam – Chandanwari route due to accumulation of snow at the campsite in Sheshnag and enroute the cave shrine via Mahaguns top.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting at the Raj Bhavan chaired by governor N.N.Vohra last evening. The Governor has asked for speeding up snow clearance and renovation work. The situation will again be reviewed on June 30th.
