Amarnath Yatra resumes today in J&K

In Jammu and Kashmir, the annual Amarnath yatra today resumed, after remaining suspended for two days due to security reasons and bad weather conditions. A new batch of 875 pilgrims, left in a fleet of 24 vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp for the Kashmir Valley, late this morning. With today's batch, as many as 86,072 pilgrims from different parts of the country had left from Jammu for onward journey to pay obeisance at the cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the Valley. Over 4.50 lakh pilgrims have so far paid obeisance at the cave shrine. Meanwhile, in view of inclement weather, the ongoing annual Buddha Amarnath yatra in Poonch district was today suspended from Jammu. Over 4,000 pilgrims have left for the shrine in the border district till now.
