Amarnath pilgrimage -2012 starts on 25th June

The annual Amarnath pilgrimage -2012 will start on scheduled date on 25th of this month . All out efforts are being made to put all the arrangements in place by June 20 for the smooth conduct of the yatra.

This was stated by Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N.N. Vohra, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, after visiting Chandanwari and Nunwan base camps of Shri Amarnath Yatra to review the snow clearance work on the two yatra tracks.

Later chairing a high level meeting of Divisional and District Administration at Nunwan base camp, the Governor reviewed the latest preparations being made for the timely commencement of the Yatra.

He issued necessary instructions to immediately deploy additional manpower to get the tracks ready for the Yatra so that the annual Amarnath pilgrimage commences on scheduled date. The arrangements were reviewed at another high level meeting at Pahalgam.

A home ministry statement said in New Delhi that Centre is constantly monitoring the commencement of the annual pilgrimage.

The statement said that Government is aware of the concerns of the pilgrims for the timely commencement of the annual pilgrimage to the Shri Amarnath Shrine and all necessary steps are being taken in this regard.
