Amar Singh resigns as General Secretary of Samajwadi Party

Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has resigned as General Secretary of the party. In a sudden move, Mr. Amar Singh has also quit from the Parliamentary Board of Samajwadi Party. Mr. Amar Singh faxed his resignation to the party chief. The resignation comes in the wake of differences which cropped up between Amar Singh and party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav during the Firozabad Lok Sabha by-polls. Mr Amar Singh had said that the party candidate Dimple Yadav, who is also daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh had lost from Firozabad due to the overconfidence of the family members of Yadav. He told reporters that if there is a clear division of work, he is willing to continue to contribute as an ordinary party worker. Mr. Amar Singh has however cited health grounds for resignation saying that his doctors have advised him to do so. This is the third time that Mr. Amar Singh has tendered his resignation. The Samajwadi Party has however still not confirmed the resignation of Mr. Amar Singh from the party post.<br/>
