Former Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada have joined Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal, RLD, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Ajit Singh said the party will contest from eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and his party will remain part of the Congress-led UPA and will not join NDA.
Amar Singh and Jaya Prada were expelled from the Samajwadi Party in 2010 for anti-party activities.
Former president of Asom Gana Parishad, Chandra Mohan Patowary has joined Bhartiya Janata Party, along with former Power Minister of Assam Hitendra Nath Goswami. They joined BJP in the presence of the the party president Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today.
In another development Gorkha Janamukthi Morcha, GJM, president Bimal Gurung decided to support the BJP in coming Lok Sabha polls. He said that his party will support BJP's candidates in West Bengal including Darjeeling seat.
