‘Amar Singh arrested, sent to Tihar jail in cash-for-votes scam

The Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh and two former BJP MPs were on Tuesday sent to 14 days judicial custody. They have been arrested in the cash-for-vote scam.Earlier in the day, Amar Singh, and two former BJP MPs, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahbir Singh Bhagora were denied bail by a Delhi Court hearing the case.A police spokesman said that they have been taken to Tihar jail. All the three were charge-sheeted by the Delhi Police in the cash for vote scam after the Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the probe in the case.Armed with his medical reports, Singh made a fervent plea to the court to grant him bail, saying that he has only recently undergone a kidney transplant in Singapore and required intensive round the clock medicare.However, the Judge, after going through the medical reports submitted by Singh, said the documents do not show his medical history after September 2010.A Tihar jail spokesman told AIR Correspondent that there is no proposal to take Amar Singh outside the jail complex for any medical check up. He said, if there is a need, the check up can be conducted in the complex itself as there is enough medical facility apart from a hospital.
