Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said that the alliance between the Congress and the DMK is strong and cordial. Speaking to Doordarshan in Chennai, Dr Singh said the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. Karunanidhi during his meeting with him this morning had discussed the recent floods in the state.Earlier, Mr. Karunanidhi met Dr Singh at the Rajbhavan which lasted about 25 minutes. This is first meeting between the two leaders after the resignation of former Telecom minister Mr A.Raja from the cabinet, on the 2 G issue .Mr. Karunanidhi told newsmen that he had discussed the issue of recent floods in the state and sought central assistance to carry out relief measures in the affected districts.To a question on the status of DMK Congress relationship, Mr. Karunanidhi likened it to the ties between the media and him.
