Allahabad University remains peaceful after yesterday’s violence

Allahabad University remains peaceful today after yesterday’s violence by agitating students opposing University’s order for eviction from hostels. The University is closed till Sunday. Today, a delegation of university students handed over a memorandum to district magistrate address to president of India demanding removal of vice -chancellor. Meanwhile several FIRs have been lodged by violence affected parties including University administration. The senior superintendent of police said that FIRs have been lodged against more than three hundred unnamed persons. He said that with help of available video footage police is trying to identify miscreants who were involve in yesterday’s violence. Quoting Vice chancellor, The University spokesperson told AIR correspondent this evening that The University has reassured the students that there is no need of any panicky because University will provide all assistance to legitimate occupants of hostels but he further clarify that illegal occupants will not allow staying in the hostels.
