In Uttar Pradesh the Allahabad High Court today directed the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI to probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds in seven district of Balrampur, Gonda, Mahoba, Sonebhadra, Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur and Kushinagar provided for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guarantee Scheme, MGNREGA from the centre. The Court has directed the CBI to submit status report to this Court at the interval of every three months.
A division bench of the Lucknow Court consisting Justices DP Singh and Ashok Pal Singh passed the order after hearing a Public Interest Litigation PIL filed by a journalist.
The Court has also directed the CBI to hold a preliminary enquiry to other districts of the State for the aforesaid three years relating to abuse, misuse or misappropriation of fund provided under MGNERGA scheme.
