Allahabad High Court asks UP Govt. that at what extent Ganga water can be transferred to canals

<br/>The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government that at what extent Ganga water can be transferred to canals. While hearing Public Interest Litigation on Ganga River and its pollution, the High Court asked the chief secretary of UP Government to file an affidavit indicating the extent to which the Ganga water can be transferred to canals.<br/><br/>The bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Arun Tandon passed this order when it was pointed out that in Allahabad, there is acute scarcity of water in Ganga and its water being diverted to canals and other place more than what is required. In the Court, the state Additional Advocate General S G Hasanain made an argument that Uttrakhand is not releasing sufficient water to the state and it is cause of scarcity of water in Ganga. HC will hear the case on 13th of August.
