In Uttar Pradesh the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court quashed notification of the state government for setting up a new district Chhatrapati Sahuji Mahraj Nagar carving out some parts of Sultanpur and Raebareli districts. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that a division bench of the court consisting Justice Pradeep Kant and Justice Rituraj Awasthi stayed the notification of state government after hearing petitions filed by some residents of Sultanpur district. The court has said census process is going on in the country and in these circumstances no new district or Tehsils can be constituted. Our correspondent reports the state Government had set up Chhatrapati Sahuji Mahraj Nagar on 1st of last month and senior officials were appointed on same day to make it functional. In her previous tenure in the year of 2003 Mayawati had tried to set up this district but Mulayam Singh Yadav government had quashed her decision later on.
