Taking a grim view of the spurt in crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court today decided to monitor the probe into the Badaun gangrape and murder case. The Court asked the DG Police to submit a detailed report of the investigation into the matter and all such cases registered in the state in the last six weeks at the next hearing on 3rd July. The court also ordered adequate security for family members of the victims.
A division bench comprising justice Tarun Agarwala and justice Ram Surat Ram Maurya passed the order on a PIL filed by Stree Mukti Sangathan, which has sought the court's direction to state authorities for an expeditious probe into the Badaun case and stern action against the culprits.
