In Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad High Court has dismissed a writ petition of a controversial Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Mishra seeking a stay on his arrest in connection with an FIR lodged against him for his alleged involvement in theft of vehicles in Mirzapur district.

Rejecting the petition, a Division Bench of the court comprising Justice Vinod Prasad and Justice Rajesh Chandra observed the petitioner had failed to place anything on record that could necessitate intervention at this stage. His name figured in the FIR which related to theft of vehicles. It was lodged in Kotwali Dehat Police Station of the district last month when police had arrested some persons including his close family members with some vehicles theft from different places.

He is evading his arrest after registration of FIR. Mr. Mishra represents Bhadohi constituency from Sant Ravidas Nagar district in the State Assembly.
