Allahabad HC likely to hear applications day-after tomorrow on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute

In Uttar Pradesh, the Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court is likely to hear the applications day-after tomorrow for settling the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute through dialogue and reconciliation. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports three applications have been filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High court in this regard and for deferment of the judgment on the title suit. The court has passed the order on the application of one Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, the defendant of a suit pleading that the title suit verdict, slated to be pronounced on 24th of this month be deferred. Mr. Tripathi has also submitted in his application that since communal riots could erupt following the verdict in the title suit, it would be in larger national interest if all parties concerned agreed to hold round-table talks for settling the issue amicably. The three-member Bench comprising Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agrawal and Justice DV Sharma has called all the parties to find ways to resolve the case through reconciliation. Incidentally, with the Special Bench having already made an abortive attempt to resolve the contentious issue through dialogue, this will be second such attempt to find an amicable solution to the decades-old controversial issue.
