The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has dismissed a writ petition of BSP MLA Krishan Kumar Singh challenging disqualification proceedings against him pending before the Speaker of the State Assembly. The division bench of the court comprising justices Umanath Singh and Anil Kumar, while dismissing the writ petition, observed that since the matter is pending before the Speaker, he would be the best judge to decide as to how the matter is to be decided in keeping with best traditions of his office. AIR correspondent reports that the MLA Krishan Kumar Singh alias Satish Verma was elected on BSP ticket had joined Samajwadi Party last month. BSP state Chief Swami Prasad Maurya has moved a petition before the Speaker under anti-defection law against the MLA.
