The Allahabad High court has taken a serious note of delay in release of prisoners who have already served their term. The High court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to take immediate steps to identify all such convicts who have served their sentences but are still languishing in jails. While hearing a petition by one such person justice B K Narayan observed the appellant has completed his ten year jail term but still in jail. The judge asked the state government to identify all such convicts who have served their sentence and take steps for their release.
