An all-women crew of the Indian Navy is to circumnavigate the world in a small boat from August this year. Known as Navika Sagar Parikrama project, the six members will cover the distance of 20,730 nautical miles over a period of eight months. The main objective of the adventure is to promote ocean sailing at the international level and highlight the empowerment of women in India. Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre gave this information in Lok Sabha today.
