Minister of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal has said that all the un-electrified villages are to be electrified within two years. He said in the Lok Sabha today that electrification will be completed by 1st May, 2018. To provide electricity in remote areas of the country, budgetary allocation under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana is 45 hundred crore rupees for present fiscal 2015-16.<br/><br/>On the issue of large outstanding debts on several power distribution companies of various States, Mr. Goyal informed that his Ministry has launched a scheme Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana, UDAY for improving operational and financial efficiency of these companies. This scheme envisages reduction in interest burden, reduction in cost of power and improvement of operational efficiency.
