Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said that all the villages of the country would be electrified by May 2017. He was addressing the two day conference of Ministers of power and renewable energy and mines of the states and Union Territories at Vadodara in Gujarat. <br/><br/>Inaugurating the SWITCH global power expo as a part of conference, Mr.Goyal said that the target to electrified all the villages of the country will be achieved a year before the 1000-day deadline set by the NDA government. He also announced soft loans to the states for providing electricity connection to every household in the country. <br/> <br/>Mr. Piyush Goyal said that the key issues discussed with the states during the conference include focus on hydro power projects. He said that the Power Finance Corporation and Rural Electrification Corporation have been asked to see how we can start small hydro power projects in the country. He said that Government is also considering hydro projects as part of renewable energy. <br/><br/>Mr. Goyal said that states have been asked to finalize the Power Purchase Agreements with renewable energy generators before March 2017. Two day conference inaugurated on Friday will end today.
