Reserve Bank today clarified that all the ten rupee coins continue to remain valid and legal tender for all monetary transactions. In a press release issued in Mumbai, RBI said it was issuing this clarification following complaints that certain traders and members of public refuse to accept ten rupee coins due to suspicion about their genuineness.<br/><br/>RBI has informed that it has so far issued 14 different designs for ten-rupee coins reflecting various themes of economic, social and cultural values. The apex bank has said that coins of different designs and shapes circulate in the market at the same time as coins have longer life. RBI has further asked banks to accept coins for transactions and exchange at all their branches.
