All systems in Central hospitals including AIIMS under review: Harsh Vardhan

Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that his ministry is reviewing all systems in the country’s central hospitals, including AIIMS to end systemic and symptomatic corruption. Referring to the removal of Sanjeev Chaturvedi as Chief Vigilance Officer of AIIMS, Dr Vardhan in a statement said this was done to restore the image of the Central Vigilance Commission, which had opposed Chaturvedi’s designation as CVO in 2012 and 2013.

The Health Minister said disregarding the CVC’s directives was part of a design to weaken the institution by the previous UPA government. He added that the UPA had tried to demolish public faith in the CVC by appointing a tainted bureaucrat as its head. He said it was regrettable that a political slant was given to reprofiling of Chaturvedi’s job. The Minister clarified that Chaturvedi has neither been suspended, nor transferred.
