In Tamil Nadu, uncertainty surrounding the timing of the swearing in ceremony of AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala as chief minister continues amidst the opposition growing against her elevation. The Centenary Auditorium of the University of Madras at its Marina Campus has been spruced up to host the event, though no official communication has been sent to the invitees so far.

The AIADMK veteran leader and party spokesperson C.Ponnaiyan however, has said there is no internal division in the party against VK Sasikala'e election as the Legislature Party leader. Addressing the press in Chennai today, he said her swearing in ceremony will be held on a day that is convenient to the Governor.
On the other hand another veteran leader of the party and former Speaker of the state Assembly PH Pandian told the press in Chennai, that Ms VK Sasikala is not qualified to take over as the party General Secretary and also as the chief minister of the state. He said there is no place in the party rules that enables a person to be selected as the General Secretary by its General Body, adding it is for all the party grass root level workers to select a person for the post. Mr Pandian also wanted a thorough inquiry into the incidents immediately preceding the admission of Ms Jayalalithaa in hospital on September 22 last year.
