Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that all the roads in the country will be converted into cement-concrete ones to ensure their stability and durability. Inaugurating 'Prawaas 2017' – India International Bus and Car Travel Show in Navi Mumbai last night, he said that such roads last for 200 years.<br/> <br/>The Minister expressed confidence that the Motor Bill will be passed in the Parliament. The bill is aimed at steeply enhancing the fine for traffic violations, providing for compensation of 5 lakh rupees for grave injuries and cracking down on bogus licenses and vehicle thefts. <br/><br/>Mr Gadkari allayed the fears of some States that their power will be curtailed if the legislation was passed, saying that there was no basis for such apprehensions.<br/> <br/>The Minister said, the country is short of around 22 lakh drivers, so 2,000 training centres are being set up to make up the deficiency. <br/><br/>He also advocated manufacturing air-conditioned drivers' cabins of trucks and buses for increasing their productivity.
