All preparations for 3rd phase of UP polls completed

In Uttar Pradesh all preparations for third phase of assembly elections have been completed. Voting will be held on Wednesday in 56 constituencies spread over 10 districts from Faizabad, Allahabad , Varanasi and Vindhyachal Dham divisions.Polling will be held from 7 mornings to 5 evening. Security forces have reached to all poll bound districts. The Commission has directed that outsiders and non voters must leave the constituencies going for poll in this phase.Searches and raids have been conducted in hotels and lodges to vacate them from illegitimate occupants and outsiders.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that polling parties will be rushing to their respective polling stations on Tuesday. A total of 18374 polling stations have been set up for more than 1 crore 78 lakhs electorates in this phase. A total of 1018 candidates including 77 women are in fray. Third phase of polling cover the naxalite-infested Mirzapur, Sonebhadra and Chandauli districts. Voting will be held from 7 in the morning to 4 in the evening at all constituencies from Sonebhadra district and Chakia in Chandauli and Marihan segments in Mirzapur districts.The inter-state borders with Jharkhand, Bihar , Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh has been sealed off from this evening. Elaborate security arrangements are in place with the deployment of 737 companies of both Central Para Military Force and Provincial Armed Constabulary PAC.Three choppers have also been pressed into service to make aerial survey before and all through the voting especially to check any possible attack by naxal groups.The Election Commission has directed round the clock videography of the candidates with criminal s and strengthened the surveillance system to monitor the activities of all such candidates.At the other hand altogether 1114 candidates are left in the fray for sixth phase of polling in 68 Assembly seats. 78 candidates have withdrawn their nominations while 177 were rejected during scrutiny.Scrutiny of nomination papers filed for last phase of elections will be taking place on Tuesday. A total of 1,156 candidates have filed their nominations for 60 seats where polling would be held on March 3.Electioneering for the third phase of assembly election in 56 seats in Uttar Pradesh came to an end Tuesday evening where polling would be held on February 15.The Commission has transferred many civil and police officers including two District Magistrates and one District police chief. DMs of Rae Bareli and Sitapur have been swapped.Additional District Magistrate ADM of Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Nagar, Additional Superintendent of police rural in Gautam Buddha Nagar and two deputy superintendent of police one each from Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi and Jaunpur have also been removed.Opposition parties had lodged complaints against these officers for their biased working in elections.
