In Manipur, the Thursday night's all political parties meeting has resolved unanimously to prevent Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s proposed visit to Senapati today to formally launch the Manipur unit of Naga People’s Front (NPF). The NPF is the leading party of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN). Official sources of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat told AIR Imphal correspondent that the meeting chaired by state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh further decided to send copies of the resolution to the Prime Minister, AICC President, Union Home Minister, Election Commission of India and all Chief Ministers of the North-East. The meeting discussed NPF’s Constitution in which it is enshrined to work for unity and integrity of the people by integrating all contiguous Naga inhabited areas under one administrative roof. After thorough discussion, it was decided unanimously to strongly oppose the opening of NPF unit in Manipur as it will lead to political instability in Manipur and spread disharmony among different communities in the state.
