The All Party parliamentary delegation led by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram which is on a two day visit of J&K State to get first hand information on the situation prevailing in Kashmir valley today arrived Jammu to hold further consultation with leaders of various political parties, groups, organizations and NGOs. Soon after its arrival in Jammu, the All Party parliamentary delegation started meeting various political parties. A five member National Conference delegation led by its provincial president Ratan Lal Gupta met the delegation and expressed its views on the situation prevailing in the State particularly in Kashmir Valley. Later talking to media persons, senior National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra said that National Conference suggested grant of autonomy to J&K describing it a viable solution for the problems prevailing in the State. He said that the party reiterated its demand for withdrawal/partial withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). He said that the party hailed the sacrifices made by Army and security forces in guarding the borders. Sh. Sadhora hailed the All Party parliamentary Delegation for meeting the separatist leaders. He said that the gesture of the All party parliamentary delegation has sent positive signal that Centre is keen to find a solution of the crisis.The National Conference delegation also demanded employment package for the unemployed youth of the State and urged the Centre to hold external and internal dialogue. Eleven member Peoples Democratic Party delegation led by Ch. Zulfiqar Ali during its meeting with the delegation said that the mis-governance is the main reason for the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley.Later talking to Media persons, the PDP leader said that the Party is hopeful that a solution to Kashmir crisis will be found by the centre. However, the party stressed the need for addressing the basic issue. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and the local unit of Samajwadi Party have decided to boycott the all-party parliamentary delegation. JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh told reporters in Jammu today that the delegation has not any constitutional authority to take cognizance of the facts and the security situation which today prevails particularly in the Kashmir Valley. Expressing no confidence in the all-party delegation, Singh alleged that the delegation has completely ignored the miserable plight of the people caused by the imposition of round the clock curfew in the Valley.
