<br/>The Jammu and Kashmir government has convened an All Party Meeting in Srinagar today to discuss the situation in the valley. All 12 recognised political parties and groups in the state have been invited to attend the meeting. They include National Conference, Congress, PDP, BJP, Panthers Party, CPI-M, CPI, Peoples Democratic Forum and Democratic Party (Nationalist). The PDP has decided not to attend the meeting.<br/><br/>The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah meanwhile received a shot in the arm with the National Conference and the Congress MLAs rallying behind him appreciating the steps taken by the government to restore peace in the valley. They expressed full faith and confidence in his leadership.<br/>The situation in the Kashmir valley continues to be peaceful. The curfew was lifted from all areas on Sunday. However, restrictions under section 144 continued to remain in parts of Srinagar city and other major towns.<br/>At a specially called meeting of legislators belonging to ruling coalition in Srinagar on Sunday, it was decided that Government will put in place an appropriate mechanism to address the grievances and problems of the people in a more vibrant, systematic, regular and time-bound manner. During the meeting, Omar appealed to the MLAs for initiating a mass contact programme with people of their respective constituencies. He said the present protests was not a reflection on the governance of the state administration. <br/><br/>The meeting expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate happenings in the recent past in the state and sincere anguish and grief over the loss of life and property in these incidents. They made an appeal to all right thinking people irrespective of their political affiliations and ideologies to come forward at this crucial juncture and extend their active and positive support, and full cooperation in restoring peace and tranquility in the state.
