All party meeting called by state govt begins in Kolkata

In West Bengal, an all party meeting convened by the State Government has began in Kolkata to discuss the renaming of the State and reorganisation of district. The Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee is presiding over the meeting. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that the State Government has decided to create a separate district in Jhargram bifurcating West Midnapore district, granting the status of a district to the city of Kolkata and renaming of East Midnapore district as Tamralipta remembering the role of the district in the freedom movement of the country. Besides renaming of the state and reorganisation of some other big districts are also likely to come up for discussion. The opposition leader Mr. Surya Kanta Mishra, PCC Chief Mr. Pradip Bhattacharjee among others are present at the meeting.
