All-party meeting convened by the government to build consensus on a resolution to be moved in Parliament on the violation of human rights of Tamilians in Sri Lanka is underway in New Delhi.
There are differences between parties on the wording of the resolution with DMK and AIADMK demanding that the term genocide be include while condemning the atrocities against Tamils of Sri Lanka during the recent civil war. Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kamal Nath had already held consultations with political parties .
Earlier, DMK had asked the government to take steps to bring a resolution to be adopted by parliament. Party chief Karunanidhi has said that if parliament adopted a resolution before the end of current sitting, DMK would reconsider its decision to withdraw its support from the government.
