The UPA Coordination Committee meeting has decided to convene an all party meeting to discuss the situation following the Maoist attack in Chhatisgarh. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kamal Nath said that during the all party meeting a common strategy will be evolved to check the naxal menace. The Minster said, the meeting expressed serious concern over the attack and described it as an assault on political democracy and that is why it is important to involve all the political parties.
In reply to a question, the Minister said that passage of the Food Security Bill was not discussed at the meeting.
The meeting Chaired by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was attended by Union Ministers A.K. Antony, P. Chidambaram, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Kamal Nath, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, RLD Chief Ajit Singh, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and E.Ahmed of the Muslim League.
