Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that a decision on the issue of separate statehood for Telangana will be taken within a month.
Addressing the media after an all-party meeting on the issue in New Delhi, he urged people to maintain calm. He said the meeting was cordial and he will brief the government about its outcome before a final decision is taken.
After the meeting, Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters that his party is not satisfied with the meeting and will call for a bandh in the state tomorrow.
The representative of Congress Party Mr K R Suresh Reddy said the decision of congress high command will be acceptable to the party in the state.
The main opposition party in the state, Telgu Desam Party requested the centre to take a decision on the issue to put an end to uncertainty in the state.
BJP demanded a special session of Parliament to pass a bill for a separate state of Telangana.
