All party meet ahead of Budget Session is underway

An all party meeting, convened by the government ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament is underway in New Delhi. The government is discussing ways with the opposition parties about smooth functioning of the proceedings of the both the Houses.<br/><br/>The session will begin tomorrow and will start with President Pranab Mukherjee's address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Ananth Kumar are present in the meeting. Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sharad Yadav of JD(U), AIADMK leader Dr Venugopal are among those attending the meet. TMC and Shiv Sena are not participating in the meeting. <br/><br/>Apart from presentation of the general budget, 34 bills will be taken up for passing and consideration during the session. These include three ordinances which will be replaced through bills. The ordinances relate to Enemy Property, Payment of Wages and Specified Bank Notes. The other important legislations to be taken up include Goods and Services Tax, Central Goods and Services Tax ( Compensation for loss of revenue) and Integrated GST. <br/><br/>Talking to media, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad said government should not have preponed the budget. He said government should not do something in the budget which will deny a level playing field to other political parties in the poll bound states.
