All-party delegation returns New Delhi

The all-party delegation led by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has reached New Delhi back after a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The 39-member delegation met almost 1,000 people from a cross section of society in the state. The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the delegation's visit was a significant step. He hoped that there would be movement forward in addressing problems faced by the people in the Kashmir Valley. Omar Abdullah's National Conference party demanded autonomy to the state. PDP pleaded for unconditional dialogue and BJP opposed any move to grant autonomy to the state. Congress said, it will facilitate the vigorous dialogue process to address the aspirations of the people. Several members of the delegation met leaders outside mainstream politics in Srinagar and Jammu and visited the camps of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits to know the ground situation.
