All-party delegation arrives in Kashmir

An all party delegation led by the Home Minister P. Chidambaram arrived in Srinagar Monday morning on a two-day visit to assess the ground situation in Kashmir. They will hold discussions with representatives of different political parties and representatives of trade unions, civil society and student delegations to find solution to the current crisis. Leaders of the prominent political parties including Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley of the BJP, Basudev Acharia and Sitaram Yechury of the CPI(M), Gurudas Das Gupta of the CPI and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav are part of the delegation. The delegation is visiting Jammu and Kashmir after holding hectic discussions with all national political parties and parties from Jammu and Kashmir where leaders unanimously supported to hold dialogue with all shades of opinion after restoration of peace in the valley. The Central Government has sent invitations to all political parties and groups including two factions of Hurriyat and JKLF.
